Review: The Pianist

It’s good. It’s very good. You can’t really criticize it, but even at 2 1/2 hours, it could have gone on, developing the relationship between pianist and the Thomas Kretchsmann officer character. Their ‘deal’ at the end was rushed, and could have been drawn out for a more emotional effect. I also loved and recognized Emilia Fox. She wowed me in Cashback. It’s a true and shocking portrait of an oppressed family, and by god, it’s a damn important film. It wasn’t quite the emotional rollercoaster I wanted, but Polanski knows how to craft a film, even if he can’t set foot on American soil. (Polanski whispers into my ear: “It was worth it.”)
