Review: The Informers

Bottom of the bottom of the barrel cinema. You can’t get much worse than this. I have a DEFINITE worst movie of 2009, so far. But it can’t get much worse than this. Part of me thinks that I went to see this just because I knew it was going to bad and therefore I could have a bottom film. Nevertheless, stay away. Me and two 60+ old men in the entire theater, opening day. Walking out, I couldn’t believe I had just watched a movie. I give it one star for Mickey Rourke’s performance; it looks like he just walked onto the set, complete with his post-2008 awards show wardrobe, unchanged. He plays some kind of pedophile in the child-selling business, an element they do not elaborate on at all. When shit gets heavy, he advises his partner (played by Brad Renfro, who, in my opinion, was the best part of this movie; and he just died earlier this year) to ‘get his shit and get the fuck out of here.’ Three times. For me, that line is a staple; don’t know where I got it, but I say it all the time; and to hear Mickey say it was a joy. I can’t think about the movie anymore, it’s making me sick. Not worth it to see Amber Heard naked, but she does get AIDS.
